Bal Harbour Luxury Real Estate for Sale

Bal Harbour, FL 33154 Area Information for Residents

When city planners were trying to come up with a name for their tiny 0.6 square mile community in Miami-Dade County, someone suggested the name Bay Harbour. Many officials objected to the name since the community was actually located on the beach. Since the village ran from Biscayne Bay to the the Atlantic Ocean, city planners created a name to honor that fact. Thus, Bal Harbour was created - taking the "B" from Bay and the "A" and "L" from the word Atlantic.

This small village, which has a population of about 3,305, enjoys all the benefits of being so close to the city of Miami Beach while still maintaining a quiet and exclusive beach town atmosphere. Mayor Jean Rosenfield said she prides her village's commitment to careful and responsible planning that doesn't deter from the community's original charm. The city is especially well known for its exclusive "Shops of Bal Harbour" and its low crime rate. There has been lot's of talk and excitement surrounding Bal Harbour recently with the opening of the St. Regis , One Bal Harbour Resort & Spa and soon the Oceana of Bal Harbour, which is providing this city with new vibrant life and style.

The city of Bal Harbour seems poised to continue to reinvent itself and will always been known to be very the exclusive place to live and shop for the rich and famous from around the world.
